The Meaning of American Moodo

Moodo means “the way of all martial arts”. While the emphasis is on Tae Kwon Do and its powerful kicks, it is a unique blend that integrates the hand techniques of Karate, the joint locks of Hap Ki Do, the throws of Judo and the arm locks and chokes of JuJitsu. It is made-up of a wide variety of techniques ranging from explosive kicks and strikes, to subtle blocks and parries, to commanding arm locks and chokes, and graceful yet forceful throws.

The strong base in Tae Kwon Do involves students in a Korean form of ancient combat that originated about 3000 years ago. Tae Kwon Do is now part of the Olympic games and is one of the fastest growing sports in the world today.

The harmony of Tae Kwon Do with other ancient martial arts makes it one of the most complete self-defense, sport and fitness programs of all martial arts. It takes into consideration the different body types and individual skills of its practitioners enabling them to enjoy greater success in learning and applying their learnings.

Moodo integrates the philosophy of Asian martial arts – stressing the integration of body, mind and spirit. This philosophy embraces the spirit of a warrior with the gentle awareness and understanding of a poet.
