Our Founder

The American Moodo Institute was founded in 1985 by Grandmaster Yoon.


Grandmaster Yoon has been practicing martial arts for nearly 40 years. He is one of the highest-ranking black belts in America. He holds an 8th-Degree black belt in both Tae Kwon Do and Hap Ki Do, a 6th-Degree black belt in Judo, and has been a three-time Korean National Champion.

Grandmaster Yoon has dedicated his life to teaching martial arts to others. He is a recognized expert in the international martial arts community. His many experiences and honors include:

  • Trained several national champions in Tae Kwon Do
  • Head of the US team at the 1998 World University TKD Championship in Mexico
  • Head of the US team at the 1994 International Friendship TKD Championship in Spain
  • Coach of the American Korean Athletic Judo team for Chicago 1983-95
  • President of the American Tae Kwon Do Federation (1989)
  • Selected as Best Instructor for 1985 by the American Tae Kwon Do Federation
  • Taught US Army combat self-defense in Korea (1976-78)
